What are Thoughts?

I hope this may help a few of you who are suffering like I did for many years with
‘THE ANXIETY STATE’ till I found the answer I was looking for.
What are thoughts?
From all of our 60.000 thoughts we have each day, I imagine them as small little clouds that float into my head, I know immediately what’s inside of them, because they are all labelled, and 75% of the time they are labelled Negative [-] (that’s 45,000 of them) and 95% are Repetitive {R} they are rarely Positive (+) has my equations go 25% of the time, and only 5% are creative. Most of the time when you have a little peek inside to see their contents every thought that enters your head has a degree of urgency.
“look at me, look at me, give me ALL of your Attention”
They all cry out, but just imagine you are sitting on a shelf like a ‘Mind Guard’ just being aware of them passing through, just observing them, and being in full control over all of them and separating which ones are Positive (+) and useful, and which ones are Negative [-] OR Repetitive {R} and useless. What a Frigging relief this would be?
But this is not a fantasy, Its real, we all have the ability to do this if we learn.
This is what my mission is in writing this Blog, I will endeavour to show you how to go about this, and when you do, it will be you, who decides to either enter them, and get involved and listen to their stories, and concerns or not.
But the more bad news or fear they carry, the more compelling they are to enter into, and to listen to what they have to say.
If the thoughts are good news, or does not hold any fear, they have less impact so you give them less attention. This is what you also need to be aware of.
Remember what I keep telling you; ‘What you pay attention to, becomes your life’. Have you ever heard of the term overthinking?
Overthinking is not a mental illness! It’s not recognised as a mental health condition, but it can be a symptom of depression or anxiety. Overthinking is commonly associated with Generalised Anxiety Disorder [GAD], [GAD] is characterised by the tendency to worry excessively about several things.
People with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD] tend to suffer with overthinking.
It’s no more than you, deciding to enter into too many thoughts especially the ones that hold tremendous amounts of fear. (and most of the fear is in-fact false alarms).
These thoughts that hold fear are our lifeline in keeping us safe from harm. When we we’re living in caves, and a thought entered our head that there was a ferocious animal outside, you would take notice of that thought and act on it, and when the animal was taken care of, the fearful thought would dissipate and go away.
In today’s world 99% of the time there is no ferrous animal waiting outside our house but some agoraphobic person would still be frightened to go out, because they are taking too much notice of these false thoughts, they are entering into them, and listening to their stories, and believing all the false accusations.
The agoraphobic person is only afraid of the mechanism of symptoms that are keeping them safe that normally manifest into ‘Panic Attacks’.
They are suffering from ‘fear of fear’ that’s all, but it is a vicious circle that cannot be stopped if the person doesn’t know how to stop it.
It will carry on till it sends the victim into a Nervous Wreck.
When you have this condition ‘which (INCIDENTALLY) can last for years’ you are constantly stoking the fire, you are pouring petrol over it, but in reality it’s not petrol, its gallons of Adrenaline and Cortisol you are releasing into your body by entering into to many false threatening thoughts, eventually the person will have a nervous breakdown.
It is unbelievable that a person can suffer all their lives just by entering into too many false thoughts, and not letting them float on by, not Accepting them as only thoughts.
Just like the person who suffers with [OCD] they enter into too many of their fearful thoughts, and they believe what they are telling them is true.
They just need to not ‘do anything’ don’t try and problem solve, don’t keep googling to find an answer, just FACE their fears head on, ACEPT every natural symptom they are experiencing, FLOAT past all their fearful thoughts and LET TIME PASS.
My trick with any unwanted intrusive thought is to just observe it, take a deep breath, surround the thought with your (Inhale), and say; “Accept” capture the thought with your breath, (Pause) and when you (Exhale) release the thought from your head and out your mouth, or nose and say; “And Away” then carry on.
Or you can imagine your intrusive thoughts as junk mail coming through your ‘mind’ (letterbox), or imaginary (email inbox), and then screwing them up or deleting them, and chucking them in your waste paper basket, or (trash bin)
Or imagine your thoughts has letting go of a frisbee the thoughts are still there, and as it gathers momentum and sails through your mind, (but by not engaging in it), It eventually lands in the bushes somewhere and disappears from view.
It does not matter what trick you use, as long as you let it go.
Don’t be bluffed by your thoughts, don’t let them rule your life.
It’s totally impossible to stop thoughts from coming ‘It is the human condition we chose to have when we we’re evolving’ and it’s also impossible to push them away, especially if they hold tremendous amounts of fear.
It’s also impossible to try and forget them ‘that is a fruitless task in itself’ this is why so many people get caught up in them and let them ruin their lives.
The only answer is to let them go, release them ‘ACCEPT’ them for what they really are ‘ONLY THOUGHTS’ that hold a certain amount of fear.
Thoughts that can do so much damage if you let them. Don’t you let them.
‘BE IN CONTROL’ or they ‘WILL’ control you!
(It’s a pity that when we were born, we didn’t come with a set of instructions on how to control our thinking!)
Examples of a [OCD] suffers thoughts are; “I have NOT locked my front door?
I will get burgled! ” although he knows this is a false thought he goes back to check because the thought holds that much fear he takes notice of the thought instead of letting it go, and riding past the anxiety it brings with it.
Other fearful thoughts, he may think “I have left the ‘gas hob’ ON, on the cooker, the house will burn down” “I have not washed my hands after touching that toilet door handle and I will catch some kind of disease and spread it to my family” and with Sensorimotor [OCD], “I won’t stop noticing my blinking or my breathing or my swallowing they will send me crazy” all these are false thoughts that hold tremendous amount of fear and anxiety.
No wonder the person falls victim to all these false accusations that his thoughts are sending him, if he doesn’t know how to let go of his intrusive thoughts and realise that what they really are, ‘only thoughts’.
Can you see that you are taking too much notice of your thoughts and fears instead of ‘facing them head on' and riding through the anxiety till you get to the other side.
You cannot run away from fear, you must go towards it, and ‘ACCEPT’ it, and let it ‘FLOAT’ on by, and ride it out.
See it for what it is, no more than a thought that holds fear. ‘By Letting It Go’ you are telling, and training your brain that it is false and does not hold any threat, no danger, and then, and only then, will your brain stops releasing the very hormones that are creating these thoughts in the first place, it is a vicious downward circle that only YOU can stop! (It will get out of hand and get uncontrollable if YOU don’t stop it.)
The only other alternative is to take Antidepressant or Valium medication that would calm you down, and maybe suppress your symptoms long enough for you to feel better, but it would only be temporary as soon as you stop taking them it would all return, because you would fall back into your old habits of overthinking and letting in all those intrusive thoughts, because you have NOT learned how to control them.
Taking Prescription Medication to get better is OK and you should NOT come off them without consulting your GP first. It could be counterproductive and damaging but it is only treating the symptoms and NOT the cause. It is more advisable to carry on with your treatment along side the practice of Acceptance for a while.
It’s far better to treat the ‘CAUSE ‘ [The root of your problem] and learn how to be a ‘Mind Guard’ keeping guard of your Intrusive, Negative [-] thoughts and let them go as directed.
You will then know the way in, ‘but better still’ you will know the way out, you would become a ’better person' for it.

Not some.
Not the loud ones only.
Every.
Thought.
Before it builds a stronghold. Before it writes a story. Before it names your future.
