How Acceptance works

Acceptance is like a forgetful surrender, and when you surrender, you stop the fight, and when you stop the fight, you release all the tension, that has been gathered up for such a long time, just like when you (give in), but don’t think (giving in) is anything like (giving up), they have two different meanings, just like (Accepting), and (just putting up with it!). Giving up is (a weakness), a weakness in your character, because it involves you, (in stopping trying) and when you stop trying, you (fail), and failure has no leg to stand on as long as you are willing to give it another go, give it another go,’YES’, but without all the fighting, tension, worrying and fear involved. This is the key to successful recovery from any type of ‘Anxiety State’.

The difference between (Acceptance) and (just putting up with it) Is; by

Just putting up with something, is like a never ending suffering of grim endurance that you continue to suffer from, and worry about, and try and problem solve.

Whereas Acceptance is understanding that everything ‘thats here’ (is here) (because that’s what (IS HERE’), it is something that’s bothering you because of its very existence.  But you need to Accept its presence because it ‘IS’ here and you can’t do anything about it, because if you could, you would.

If you Accept that you can’t do anything about it, you will in-fact start to welcome its presence and become friends with it, then-and-only-then does the fear go away, then you can look at your problem in a new perspective (from a different angle) you have created         space         and within that      space     you are free to give it another shot. but with absence of any type of fear, and without fear, you can solve your problem with clarity, and dignity, and with more logic, reason, and judgment.

Fear only survives in you, because of all the resistance of it, you try and push it away, but the HARDER you push the HARDER fear pushes back. It becomes a hopeless task, its like pushing a beach ball under the surface of the water, the harder you push the harder the beach ball pushes back. Sir Isaac Newton's three laws of motion taught us this way back in 1687 and it still applies today in the way we reject discomfort and things we find uncomfortable and try and push away, but (“What you resist NOT ONLY persists, but WILL GROW IN SIZE”) but the more you Accept anything the more it fades into the background and reduces in size.

But what the problem with this is; it takes Acceptance time to make your problem fade into the background, and to work, and because it is NOT an IMMEDIATE recovery, we think it fails us, and we continue to go back and suffer. I have seen this happen time-and-time again in my own journey to recovery.

I would revert back to my old way of thinking and resisting, by trying to push away any type of fear or uncomfortable emotions that was present from the way I was thinking, and taking notice of all my intrusive thoughts.

In your long journey to recovery you also need to understand the difference between ATTENTION and AWARENESS, attention is like (central view) both in vision and in thought, it is what (we choose) to concentrate on, whereas awareness is more like (peripheral view), Peripheral view is the side vision that detects movement and spatial Awareness, again, both in vision and in thought.

“What you PAY ATTENTION TO, becomes you life”, It is just like the (Nutter that gets on the bus), you don’t give them eye contact, you look out the window instead when he shouts; “HAS ANYONE SEEN MY CAMEL” because as soon as ‘you do’ give them eye contact, you connect with them, and get involved, then they choose to sit next to you all the way home from work and continue to discus there whereabouts of their camel, although there are 35 empty seats still available on the bus.

Just like intrusive thoughts that enter your head, if you only give them Peripheral view you will NOT connect with them, or get involved in anything they have to say, just like the nutter on the bus, you don’t have to endure their false Negative, Repetitive conversations for any length of time that’s necessary.

This is the only way forward in the journey to recovery in any type of Anxiety State, whether it be; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD], Generalised Anxiety Disorder [GAD], Ventricular Ectopic Beats [VEBs], Major  Depressive Disorder [MDD], or Panic Disorder [PD].

I hope these 3 BOOKS may HELP anyone who are suffering, like I did for many years with ‘THE ANXIETY STATE’,  till I found the answer I was looking for in;  ACCEPTANCE and EQUANIMITY.
